Water Standards Image
Introduction
There are different agencies that regulate drinking water for public consumption. In America, there is US EPA and also many states have their own water standards. In Europe, the new European Water Standards are the guideline for the local regulating bodies to implement drinking water norms in the industry.
There are water standards in most countries that are regulated by Government Organization. In America, POU and POE home systems are not regulated by federal, state or local laws (in some states like, California and Wisconsin, new standards do regulate home use systems). The only exception being, US EPA requires Activated Carbon filters with silver or other chemicals that claims to kill bacteria to be registered.
NSF certification programs are accredited to the international standards for third-party product certifiers through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Standard Council of Canada, assuring the highest level of integrity, quality and acceptance. There are several certification standards available for drinking water. Generally the NSF 42 & the NSF 53 standards are related to carbon block certification. There are many organizations who do these certifications which are ANSI accredited. Most of the organizations prefer to use only certified products.
Carbon Blocks NSF 53
This standard covers health claims such as removal of lead, VOCs, pesticides, herbicides, and cysts, etc. A well designed high quality carbon blocks meets NSF 53 standards. Carbon Block filters are densely packed with fine activated carbon powder with special polymeric binder and engineered with additives to remove certain heavy metals. The microporous structure traps particles and cysts. The fine activated carbon powder gives faster adsorption kinetics. The adsorption efficiency is increased many folds by minimizing the bulk water and the boundary layer so that the molecules of the contaminates can diffuse fast into the inner pores of the carbon.
Commitment
Filtrex Technologies is committed to bring to you the best of residential filtration solutions around the finest carbon blocks. FX™ GreenBlock are made using high performance NSF 61 listed coconut shell greencarbon having more pores compared to other types of carbon and a unique binder system delivering a product with superior adsorption capacity and kinetic dynamics. This combination of high performance carbon, unique binders and proprietary manufacturing process delivers exceptionally low pressure drop, high dirt holding capacity and excellent contaminant reduction. Our commitment to quality and the environment is demonstrated by the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. We bring value differentiation to your carbon blocks by developing custom made specialty blocks - various shapes, range of porosities, specific contaminants removal features such as: Lead, Arsenic, VOC, Chloramines ect. We have undergone the NSF & the WQA certifications process and can have your custom blocks certified to International standards.
