EPC Carbon

Activated carbon is a highly porous material used as an excellent and versatile adsorbent for both liquid and gaseous contaminants for a myriad of commercial applications. The porosity within the activated carbon imparts their dominant characteristics of adsorption. Depending on the nature of forces involved, adsorption is of two types: Physisorption – where the contaminants are bound to the carbon matrix by weak Van der Waal’s forces and Chemisorption – where a chemical reaction occurs between the contaminants and the carbon matrix. EPC carbon – Enhanced Physisorption and Chemisorption carbon: Our proprietary know-how is to enhance the physisorption and chemisorption properties by suitably modifying the carbon surface and to tailor make the carbons for targeted contaminant removal applications. Our novel process enables us to modify the carbon such that its surface and inner pores are decorated with heteroatoms such oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, sulfur, phosphorous etc. The effectiveness of these functional groups is a function of its size, type of the group and its distribution in the carbon matrix. Our unique surface modification process ensures that we achieve a uniform and consistent distribution of the functional groups while retaining the inherent physisorption capacity of the carbon. Our Product range consists of EPC carbons for contaminant removal as follows:
